It’s not every day that someone walks up to you and offers you a free carbon fiber bike. But that’s exactly what happened! Recently, two of my friends, Dani, Trevor, and I were in Springfield, TN getting ready to go on a ride when a gentleman named Vince came up and gave us that offer. We promised to find it a great home.
Vince’s bike is a 54cm carbon fiber Stealth, which was given to him as a part of Project Hero Ride 2 Recovery for veterans. Vince shared that he no longer lives in an area he felt comfortable riding in, and since it was given to him, he wanted to continue passing it along to someone else. The frame is fitted with Shimano 105 5700 (10-speed), and Easton EA70 wheels. Like most bikes that have hung around in a garage for a while, it needs a tune-up.
I am hoping that Vince’s generosity motivates you to dig through your parts drawer and find any compatible parts that might upgrade this ride! Namely, we’re looking to find bar tape, tires, a new chain, and new cables and housing. I have already found a brand new 105-cassette in my stock of goods. If you have any of the things listed or parts above and beyond, please let us know!
We are also thrilled to find this new bike the perfect next home. If this bike can help you, a friend, or an organization get to the next level, please fill out the form below. A 54-cm bike commonly fits riders around 5’6″- 5’9″ tall. We’re excited to hear about all of the awesome things you’ve been doing, and how this bike can help continue those efforts. The submission form will stay open until May 31st until 12:00pm CDT. I wish I had a bike to give everyone!
Thanks as always — I look forward to riding with you soon.
