SUMMARY:Bike Month Group Bike Ride
DESCRIPTION:Join the Vanderbilt community\, Vanderbilt’s Office of Transportation and Mobility\, the Nashville Connector\, and Spin for a group bike ride starting at the corner of 21st Avenue South & Grand Avenue\, near Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management (across the street from Chipotle / Subway / Dunkin Donuts). Find a google maps link here. \nThe ride will take place on low-speed roadways in the Music Row area\, and will showcase the protected bike lanes installed on 12th Avenue South. The ride will be supervised by a trained bike safety professional and members of the Nashville Connector team. \nThe ride is open to riders of many skill levels – but baseline bike riding proficiency is required. Registrants should feel comfortable balancing\, pedaling\, turning\, braking\, etc on a bike\, and should be open to riding (with support) in a setting shared with other vehicles. Helmet use is required. \nSpin will provide free e-bikes from the bike share program on a first-come\, first-served basis. Vanderbilt’s Transportation and Mobility team will offer free helmets. Event organizers will follow up by e-mail before the event to confirm whether registrants need a bike and helmet. \nVisitors who will arrive by car (and do not have a Vanderbilt parking pass) can park in the paid visitor parking spaces at the Wesley Place Garage. \nPre-ride checks and signing of associated waivers will begin promptly at 12pm. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to prepare to start soon after. \nIf you have any questions\, e-mail Vanderbilt University’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Planner\, Matthew Cushing\, at Matthew.K.Cushing@Vanderbilt.edu
